4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. On offer is a super grouping of five [5] notebooks in three-ring binders detailing in superb detail the education and training and thoughts of a real life 'G-Man' as he trained for and with the Federal Bureau of Investigation mere days after the War with Japan was declared. Created, compiled and handwritten by Dennis E. McFeely, he describes specifics in his copious notes [two books are his personal notes and the other three are more course related] from addresses by the Director J. Edgar Hoover [Dennis states that one of the most memorable events that happened to him on his first day was getting to meet the Director] to the FBI's deepest concerns of dealing with home based Nazi efforts, Japanese propaganda and even the Communist threat. It is in many ways a chilling reminder in reading the books as they give a rare perspective into the Agency's fears, concerns and how the FBI was being trained for the terrible days ahead. Historians and researchers of law enforcement and the various threats America had to deal with in the war years will be delighted by the depth of knowledge McFeely was required to study and how seriously these threats were taken. This was the era of homeland spies, propaganda like Tokyo Rose and inside agitation on top of the FBI's traditional role of crime busting. Adding further depth to this unique group is a copy of Constitution of the Communist party in 1938 giving further evidence as to the preparedness the FBI was taking to understand and combat the creeping influence of Communism. Casual research finds that Dennis later became a State Police Officer and we believe he became the Chief of Police for Hoboken New Jersey. Overall G+.. Manuscript. Book Condition: Good+
